Workplace Physiotherapy

Workplace and corporate physiotherapy in London — ergonomic and DSE assessments that read how you actually work, for individuals and whole teams, resolving the chair, monitor, keyboard, posture, and movement-break factors that drive most desk-based neck, back, and wrist pain.

The short answer

What this treatment is

Most chronic neck, shoulder, lower-back, and forearm pain in office workers is driven by the same handful of workstation factors — monitor too low, chair too deep, keyboard too far forward, no movement breaks. A workplace physiotherapy assessment fixes those root causes rather than treating the resulting pain in isolation. We deliver it as a one-off appointment in clinic, an on-site visit at your office, a remote video assessment for hybrid workers, or a rolled-out programme for a whole corporate team.

Areas treated

What's included

  • Resolves the cause of desk-based pain rather than just the symptoms
  • For individuals and whole teams — one-off assessments or rolled-out corporate programmes
  • On-site, in-clinic, or remote video delivery to suit hybrid and office-based working
  • Written report with specific changes to chair, screen, desk, and movement habits
  • Helps employers meet DSE (Display Screen Equipment) duties under HSE regulations
  • Often covered by employer wellbeing budgets or occupational-health provision

Boundaries of practice

What's not treated

Good practice means saying no when indicated:

  • Acute or severe undiagnosed musculoskeletal pain — assess on physiotherapy first; ergonomic work alongside, not instead of, treatment
  • Recent surgery affecting posture (spinal, shoulder, neck) without surgical-team clearance to return to seated work
  • Neurological deficits or red-flag symptoms (loss of bladder/bowel control, progressive limb weakness, saddle anaesthesia) — these need GP / A&E review, not an ergonomic assessment

Patient journey

What to expect

Consultation & preparation

For remote sessions, take 3–4 photos of your workstation from the side, behind, and front before the call. Have your usual chair, monitor, and keyboard set up exactly as you use them. For on-site visits, we come to you during a normal working hour so we can see your real environment.

During treatment

Aftercare

You will receive a written report within 48 hours summarising the changes recommended. Implement the no-cost adjustments first (chair height, monitor distance, keyboard position) before considering equipment purchases.

Common
questions

Is an ergonomic assessment the same as a DSE assessment?

A standard DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessment is a checklist required by UK law for regular computer users. Our clinical ergonomic assessment goes further — we examine the person, not just the workstation, looking at posture, range of motion, and your actual symptoms. Many employers use our assessment to satisfy DSE obligations while delivering more value.

Will my employer pay for this?

Often yes — employers have a legal duty to provide a safe working environment, and many include ergonomic assessments in wellbeing budgets, occupational health, or private medical insurance. We can issue invoices addressed to your employer or their HR provider. Ask your manager or HR team before booking.

Do I need to come into the clinic for this, or can it be done remotely?

Either works. Remote video assessments are often the most practical for hybrid workers — we observe your actual working setup at home or in the office. In-clinic appointments work well when you also want a physical posture assessment. On-site visits are usually arranged through corporate wellbeing programmes.

I already have neck or back pain. Should I book physiotherapy or ergonomics first?

If pain is significant or recent, book physiotherapy first to assess and treat the immediate problem. Schedule the ergonomic assessment alongside or shortly after — fixing the workstation prevents the pain coming back. Many clients combine both as a single course of care, which insurers usually cover under MSK treatment plans.
